Audience and Purpose

The target audience of the Madison Public Library’s website is the area community.

 

The purpose of the website is to provide:

  1. Information to the public 

  2. Promotion of library services and events

  3. Access to library services such as: the library catalog and subscription databases

  4. General library information 

  5. Links to related websites selected based on their usefulness, relevancy, and quality of information

  6. Original content that relates to the library’s mission

Website Content

The Madison Public Library (MPL) website contains internet resources links to meet the needs of area citizens. The links (a shortcut between two pages) are not under the control of the MPL and may cause a user to leave the MPL’s site. The library is not responsible for content of external links, including any links contained within a linked website, any form of transmission received, or any changes to websites that are not specifically owned and managed by the Madison Public Library. 

 

The Library’s website is not to be used for commercial purposes with the exception of Library fundraising activities. 

 

Madison Public Library provides no guarantee of the accuracy, value, or appropriateness of information found on any website except those created by MPL.

 

Madison Public Library cannot protect users from content that may be considered offensive. It is the user’s responsibility to exercise critical judgment in evaluating the validity of information accessed via the Internet through the MPL website. Parents are encouraged to monitor and supervise their children’s Internet use and to talk with their children about Internet safety.
